Why do I have to provide Bank Cheques?

Under the contract, you are required to pay any money due either by cash, bank cheque or bank draft. Certain credit union and other non-bank type cheques are also acceptable, however a vendor’s bank often rejects these, and therefore we usually insist on bank cheques for all settlement purposes.

Given the large amounts involved, cash is generally not suitable for a property settlement. You are therefore required in most cases to arrange a bank cheque for any funds that you are providing.

Personal cheques, credit union or building society cheques are not bank cheques, and are not suitable for settlement.
