First Home Buyers can take advantage of the 20% discount now
The State Revenue Office has confirmed that the benefit of the 20% discount to stamp duty for first home buyers is available for settlements on or after 1 July 2011.
This means that a first home buyer can sign a contract now, and provided settlement takes place on or after 1 July 2011, the lower duty will apply.
To be eligible, the purchaser must qualify for the First Home Owners Grant, and the property must be no more than $600,000.00.
